The composition of the NLN medium originated from the medium described by Nitsch. The medium was developed for anthercultures of Brassica Napus in liquid medium and the induction of haploid plants from isolated pollen. NLN medium is provided free of Calcium nitrate. In the original medium Ca(NO3)2.4H2O is present in a concentration of 500 mg/l.
