- Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis,nconsist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Togethernthese subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80nstructurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomalnprotein that is a component of the 40S subunit. The protein belongsnto the S19E family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in thencytoplasm. Mutations in this gene cause Diamond-Blackfan anemian(DBA), a constitutional erythroblastopenia characterized by absentnor decreased erythroid precursors, in a subset of patients. Thisnsuggests a possible extra-ribosomal function for this gene innerythropoietic differentiation and proliferation, in addition tonits ribosomal function. Higher expression levels of this gene innsome primary colon carcinomas compared to matched normal colonntissues has been observed. As is typical for genes encodingnribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes ofnthis gene dispersed through the genome.

- Store at 4˚C for three months and -20˚C, stable for up to one year. As with all antibodies care should be taken to avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Antibodies should not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures.
