- m6A（N6-甲基腺苷）是一种转录后RNA修饰，存在于所有王国中，例如在脊椎动物snRNA U2，U4，U6，病毒和真核mRNA以及大肠杆菌16S rRNA中。
最近的研究发现，mRNA主要是在终止密码子和长内显子处修饰的m6A，这些密码子在小鼠和人类之间是保守的。所谓的RNA甲基组可能在基因表达的调控中起重要作用。
在大肠杆菌大坝甲基化酶中，在6'-GATC-5'基序的DNA水平上引入m3A修饰。这允许细胞在错配修复期间区分亲本链和子链。
