TPO or thyroperoxidase (TPO) is an enzyme expressed mainly in the thyroid where it is secreted into colloid. TPO oxidizes iodide ions to form iodine atoms for addition onto tyrosine residues on thyroglobulin for the production of thyroxine (T4) or triiodothyronine (T3), the thyroid hormones. In humans, thyroperoxidase is encoded by the TPO gene. TPO Human Recombinant produced in SF9 is a glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 834 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 92,872 Dalton (excluding glycosylation), 101 kDa total mass. The TPO is expressed with a 6xHis tag and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
