TIC62 is a subunit of the Tic complex (translocon at the inner envelope of chloroplasts) , which mediates the import of nuclear-encoded precursor proteins containing a chloroplast transit peptide in concert with the Toc complex (translocon at the outer envelope of chloroplasts) across the double membrane of the organelle.
