Telmisartan (Micardis, Kinzalmono, Pritor) is a synthetic antagonist of the Angiotensin II type 1 receptor. It has an effective concentration of 1-500 nM and an IC50 of 7.99 nM2. Telmisartan is mainly used for the treatment of essential hypertension but is also useful for other pathological conditions such as ischemic heart disease and urinary bladder diseases. Telmisartan was first synthesized by a costly and a rigorous series of chemical reactions. Today, synthesizing methods are safer and less expensive and also have an increased efficacy thus reducing the total cost of the product
