背景资料: MeCP2 (Methyl-CpG Binding Protein 2) is a chromosomal protein that binds to methylated DNA. DNA methylation is the major modification of eukaryotic genomes and plays an essential role in mammalian development. Human proteins MECP2, MBD1, MBD2, MBD3, and MBD4 comprise a family of nuclear proteins related by the presence in each of a methyl-CpG binding domain (MBD). It can bind specifically to a single methyl-CpG pair. It is not influenced by sequences flanking the methyl-CpGs. MECP2 mediates transcriptional repression through interaction with histone deacetylase and the corepressor SIN3A. It binds both 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC)-containing DNA, with a preference for 5-methylcytosine (5mC). Anti-MeCP2 Antibody is useful for researchers interested in Rett Syndromes, SIDS, Mental Retardation X-Linked Syndromic 13, and chromatin binding pathways.

免疫原: Anti-MeCP2 antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to C-terminal portion of human MECP2 conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH).

保存建议: Store vial at -20° C or below prior to opening. This vial contains a relatively low volume of reagent (25 µL). To minimize loss of volume dilute 1:10 by adding 225 µL of the buffer stated above directly to the vial. Recap, mix thoroughly and briefly centrifuge to collect the volume at the bottom of the vial. Use this intermediate dilution when calculating final dilutions as recommended below. Store the vial at -20°C or below after dilution. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
