BECLIN1 belongs to the beclin family. Beclin 1 plays a central role in autophagy, a catabolic process of degradation induced by starvation. Acts as core subunit of the PI3K complex that mediates formation of phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate which mediates vesicle-trafficking processes. This protein is thought to play a role in multiple cellular processes, including tumorigenesis, neurodegeneration and apoptosis. May play a role in antiviral host defense. Protects against infection by a neurovirulent strain of Sindbis virus. Localized in the Golgi apparatus > trans-Golgi network membrane. Interaction with ATG14 promotes translocation to autophagosomes. Expressed in dendrites and cell bodies of cerebellar Purkinje cells. Anti-Beclin-1 Antibody is useful for researchers interested in Cancer Research including Cervix Carcinoma and Breast Cancer.
Anti-BECLIN1 antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a near N-terminal portion of human Beclin-1 conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH).
