BIK is a member of Pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins. Although Bik lacks Bcl-2 homologus region，BH1 and BH2，BIK interacts with Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL. BIK has been shown to induce apoptosis by activating caspase-9.
