Tyrosine hydroxylase play an important role in the synthesis of dopamine and other catecholamines. The enzyme’s activity is regulated in the level of transcription and translation，as well as posttranscriptional modifications. Phosphorylation at Ser40 may play a key role in regulation of the catalytic activity of the enzyme.
