It functions as storage of an inactive form of trypsin and kept in the pancreas then released in significant amount, along with other enzymes, when required for protein digestion. Serum trypsinogen is measured using a blood test. Diseases associated with Trypsinogen high levels or mutations are acute pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis.
